Ship Layup

We offer hot lay-up services at the Ports of Trincomalee, Galle and Hambantota. Trincomalee Harbour is the fourth largest natural deep water harbor in the world and well sheltered within the terrestrial features around it and safe for lay-ups throughout the year. At present, the deep water harbor can accommodate about 12 vessels of 250 -350 mtrs. Length and up to 21 mtrs. Draft.

Hambantota Port is located in the Southern Coast of Sri Lanka, 54nm NE of Galle and 91nm SE of Colombo. The Port lies 3.3nm (6.0 km) from international shipping lanes, with alongside berths for 17m draft vessels. This is a privately operated Port and renowned for its smooth operations. Further, Sri Lanka possess well qualified and well experienced seafarers for lay-up Services.

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority allows hot lay-ups in stream anchorages at all four major ports in Sri Lanka ie. Colombo, Trincomalee, Galle and Hambantota. Trincomalee Harbour has been identified as a popular lay-up location by many vessel owners. The safety and security of the vessel during the laid up period is fully looked – after. In this regard, the Sri Lanka Navy also provide adequate security at the waterfronts of Lay-up areas.

Lay-up Management services

In addition to our Shipping Agency Services and Marine Services, we undertake to preserve your good vessels to be in fully operational condition at short notice.

Plans are afoot for the private investors and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority to enhance the Lay-up facilities at Trincomalee by way of :

  • Increasing the number of mooring buoys to provide more afloat berths.
  • Constructing Alongside Berths and Dolphin Berths for large ships to carryout ship repairs.
  • Workshops, Rig Conversion Workshops and Design Offices close to ship repair berths.
  • Shore cranes and floating cranes of different capacities up to 300 Tons SWL.
  • Repair and work barges to service afloat berths.
